Sigma Chi is one of the largest and oldest college Greek Letter secret and social Fraternities in the world with 236 Active Chapters and over 295,000 Initiates. It was founded on June 28th, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The colors of Sigma Chi are Blue and Old Gold and the symbol is the White Cross. Sigma Chi offers a host of social life rewards, but it does so in the context of good character. Integrity, sound judgment and loyalty are all lofty goals which sometimes find themselves contradictory to the impulses of collegiate life. Sigma Chi provides a continuum of character development that assists young men to develop the qualities of their character. Sigma Chi’s core values are friendship, justice and learning. Our vision: Become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values. Our mission: Develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community.
“Sigma Chi was my first love, and it
shall be my last”

Our Chapter:
The Kappa Zeta Chapter of Sigma Chi was founded on March 28,
1992. Since then, we have become one of the preeminent Greek Letter organizations at Radford University. We have been awarded the President’s Cup, RU’s highest honor for Fraternities, 13 of the last 18 years. Aside from the social aspect of our organization, we also engage in helping the community through various service projects and compete in many intramural sports on campus. The two philanthropies our Chapter partners with are the Children’s Miracle Network and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Each year we host a week-long competition between the sororities called Derby Days where we fundraise for the Children’s Miracle Network. We pride ourselves on being the “Gentleman’s Fraternity” and aim to be the most recognized organization at Radford University.
Why Sigma Chi?
Many students confuse Fraternity life with the constant drinking and partying that is so often displayed in pop culture. Sure, you can attend a few frat parties without being in a Fraternity, but you would still be missing out on what Fraternity life is truly about. While drinking and partying are inherent parts of the college lifestyle of most male students, Fraternity life encompasses and then transcends the fun and games that can be had in college. At its core, Sigma Chi is an organization that thrives on providing young men with high-quality college experiences, ranging across such aspects as education, recreation, personal fulfillment, and community service. These experiences translate into both preparation for the world that lies beyond college and memories to keep long after graduation. Sigma Chi strongly values the ideals of friendship, justice, scholarship, and gentlemanly conduct. It is said that college is the best years of your life. Brotherhood in Sigma Chi guarantees this. If you’re still on the fence when deciding what road you should take, ask yourself if you want to be a better man in future than the one you are today. If the answer is no, don’t bother coming here; but if it’s yes, then Sigma Chi is the place for you.
